Tell me about your musical roots are there any artists, cultures, or places that particularly influence you?

Well, musically I started listening to loads of different stuff, but the main constants in my childhood were The Beatles and Queen. Later in life, I listened to everything, from bands like The Strokes or Television, or metal like Maiden or Pantera, more classic stuff like Zeppelin, or even punk or grunge. Uruguay, obviously I grew up listening to artists like Rubén Rada, the Fattoruso Brothers, Jaime Roos, Eduardo Mateo, Psiglo, etc. In the last years, I got a bit deeper into more wave stuff, from Europe or even Argentina, like The Cure, King Crimson (mostly their ’80s stuff), Talking Heads, Charly García, etc.

What speaks to you when you’re searching for new music?

I look for music with something else to it. I don’t like “filler tracks”; something must be happening always, especially these days where DJ sets are shorter. I like unique songs for particular moments. I like all sorts of moods, but melancholy is the one that gets me more. I grew up in Montevideo, and it can be a really grey and nostalgic city.

Do you have a non-musical activity that inspires you? If so, why?

To be honest, I’ve centered my life around music, so there’s not much more besides it, but I’ve always liked horror movies. I don’t like gore movies, but more mental ones, the ones that play with the unknown and make you think, just how I like music.

What helps take care of your well-being?

Mostly therapy and sports. And of course, making music and spending time with my close ones.
